Alright folks, this topic is a big one and will really help the environment.
Reducing your carbon footprint means reducing the amount of carbon that is given off from your daily energy usage.
Carbon dioxide is what is giving off from burning natural resources like coal, but also things like exhaling your breath. Now the exhaling, that will be tough to stop, but the emissions from energy usage are fairly easy to reduce after learning about it.
Let's start with the way your daily habits lead to carbon dioxide emission. All of the electricity you use each day has to be produced somewhere. Most of these power plants create carbon release from their method of energy creation. This means that whenever you use power either in your house or anywhere else that is powered by electricity, you’re using the power that is created by the plant that releases the carbon.
There are other ways to produce carbon such as a vehicle. It does the same thing as a power plant but on a smaller scale. Your engine burns gasoline which also leads to creating carbon.
Between all of the things you participate in during one day, you’re creating quite a bit of carbon. Since there are so many ways you can reduce the amount of carbon you produce, I will go through them in the following weeks, and let you know how to reduce your carbon footprint.
This week I will focus on educating more about each part of what carbon is, how it is created, and which type of technologies create the most. I hope you enjoy this week, because it is one that will be vital in "going green".
